Everyone should be excited about the New Jersey Devils. This is one of the best seasons in franchise history. The Devils are going into the playoffs with big-time expectations. Of course, to win all those games, you need all of your great players to step up and be great players. It also helps to get a boost every now and again.

One person that might be able to provide a boost is Luke Hughes. ESPN’s Ryan S. Clark wrote about how he thinks the youngest Hughes brother is ready for the big stage immediately. He used previous comparisons to see how Hughes could do in the NHL.

"“Look at what the members of that club have achieved in a short time. They’ve had varying degrees of success, ranging from being instant contributors in a top-four role to making the All-Star Game to winning individual accolades such as the Norris Trophy, the award that goes to the NHL’s best defenseman.” — Ryan S. Clark"

He is an amazing player in his own right, and everyone knows it. New Jersey selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, and they are certainly happy with that decision.

Since then, Luke has played the last two seasons with the University of Michigan. In those two years, there is no doubt that he has developed his skills at every end of the zone. He is going to be an even better player than we thought originally.

Luke Hughes will be a magnificent player for the New Jersey Devils.

In Hughes’ first year in college, it was all about the offense. He started to work on the other areas of the game in his sophomore season. He needs that to be an impact defenseman in the NHL. He was very successful in doing so.

On Thursday night, his dream of winning a National Championship came to an end. The Michigan Wolverines lost to Quinnipiac in the Frozen Four. Other Devils prospects like Seamus Casey and Ethan Edwards were there with him, but they will likely return to Michigan for another year.

Although it is tough for him, it is clear that Luke Hughes’ next hockey game will come in the New Jersey Devils organization. We don’t know exactly when, but it should be before the end of this season.

As mentioned before, there is a chance that he provides a boost to this team. He would also, in all likelihood, get Jack Hughes amped up to play even more which would have an impact on everyone around him. There is nothing but good that can come with this.

The impact he may or may not make this year remains to be seen, but it is time to start getting excited about him. Luke Hughes is coming. The rest of the NHL isn’t ready for how good this Devils team really has a chance to be.
