Decisions #2: Bring Daniel Sprong, Curtis Lazar to the fourth line
The Devils' fourth line played really well on Tuesday night, but the reality is that Nathan Bastian, Justin Dowling, and Tomas Tatar had a ton of really good offensive chances, and they couldn't convert. If literally one of those chances went in, this game is in overtime. Dowling had a turnaround shot from about three feet out that failed, and Bastian had an empty net that Andersen stole from him. The Devils need finishers.
Lazar spent most of this season recovering from an injury he suffered earlier in the season. Maybe some time off will do him good. His goal rate was cut in half this season. Sprong is also an offensive player who just needs to be in the right place. The Devils found players in the right place on multiple occasions on Tuesday night, but they couldn't finish.
Sprong can be that finisher. He does a lot that frustrates teams, but if the Devils were getting this many turnovers from their fourth line, Sprong would score a goal. Maybe they need to play with the lines to get Sprong in the right place, but having a scorer in the lineup is important when the team is playing like this offensively.
