The New Jersey Devils are one of the top teams in the National Hockey League right now. At 17-9-2, their 36 standings points are near the top of the Eastern Conference.
You don't have that good of a record without great players. A lot of these guys are hoping to play in the upcoming "4 Nations Face-Off" tournament this winter.
The tournament is an NHL-hosted event that will only feature Sweden, Canada, Finland, and the United States. It's a shame that guys like Nico Hischier and Timo Meier won't be able to play but they have the Olympics to look forward to in 2026.
Of all the Devils that are eligible to play these are the five that deserve to make a roster for their respective country:
Jack Hughes will be one of Team USA's best forwards in this tournament
Jack Hughes is one of the top players in the NHL. He is considered by most to be a “lock” to make Team USA. Not only will he be a part of the team, he will play a big role as a scorer.
Hughes is diverse when it comes to goal scoring and creating for his linemates which is why he will fit in well on Team USA. It doesn’t matter who he plays with, he is going to shine.
Jack Eichel, who was one of the “first six” named to the team last summer, is the only American-born player with more points (36) than Hughes (33).
Another player on the team as one of the “first six” is Jack’s brother Quinn Hughes. It will be a great family experience for them to be teammates. Unfortunately, Luke doesn’t quite have the resume to be on the team yet but there should be a day in the future when all three of them are on Team USA.
Whether Jack plays wing or center remains to be seen. It won’t matter on a team like this as his main contribution will be creating offense. At the end of the day, he will be a wonderful representative of the Devils while he’s there.
