Erik Haula is a good enough of a player to play a role on Team Finland
There is no reason for Team Finland to leave Erik Haula off. He may be the 13th forward in most games but he deserves to be on the team in a checking role.
Finland isn't as deep as Canada or the United States so taking forwards like Haula is the key to them winning. They are going to have to play with good structure and be smart at all times if they are going to win.
Guys like Erik Haula are important in that quest. They have plenty of good scoring forwards like Sebastian Aho, Aleksander Barkov, and Mikko Rantanen amongst others.
Haula isn't in that elite group but he can win big face-offs, defend one-goal leads late, and even provide a clutch goal here and there. His playoff resume in the NHL is legit and this tournament is a couple of playoff games. He would make a positive impact on this team.
