5 terrible New Jersey Devils trade proposals from Vancouver Canucks fans

The New Jersey Devils, whether legitimate or not, have been tied to the Vancouver Canucks in trade talks. It makes sense, with possible targets in Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, Brock Boeser, and Conor Garland. So, we wanted to hear what Canucks fans want from New Jersey, and we were not disappointed in their lunacy.

The New Jersey Devils are in a rut right now, and it seems like everyone is circling the chum in the water. The Devils are very much still locked into a playoff spot, sitting in second place in the Metropolitan Division despite a rough weekend against the Flyers and Senators. With the Devils very publicly looking for forward help, and the Vancouver Canucks likely looking to sell some pieces after a disappointing season and a calamity of a locker room, there's a lot of Nucks' fans that have made some proposals themselves.

There are a few interesting targets. Some Canucks fans are being logical with their ask. Many of them are not. We used our friends at Puck Pedia to find some of the wildest trades being proposed. We've done this in the past with CapFriendly (RIP), and we've seen some wild ones. One of the more recent ones was Tristan Jarry for Lenni Hameenaho and a second-round pick. However, these trades blow that one out of the water.

We assume the Canucks are trying to find homes for the likes of Boeser and maybe even Conor Garland with J.T. Miller seemingly down to the Rangers and Stars as targets. Of course, the Canucks fans will take a crazy request for Miller and just transfer it to Boeser. Asking for either of Dawson Mercer or Johnathan Kovacevic in a Boeser deal from the Devils makes little to no sense. Would the Devils be interested in Boeser? They definitely might, but it wouldn’t be at the expense of the team they are putting out there today.

Boeser is the type of player teams sense draft picks and maybe decent prospects, but he’s not getting two very valuable NHL roster players. Kovacevic has been possibly the best defensive defenseman in the NHL, and Mercer is still one of the best players from the 2020 NHL Draft.

Boeser is also not having his best season. He’s on pace for around 27-28 goals thanks to an injury that cost him a few games. That’s a far drop from the 40 goals he scored last season. Honestly, why would Boeser get more than the Devils got for Tyler Toffoli last year?
