5 trade targets that would be perfect partners for Jack Hughes

The New Jersey Devils are looking to make big moves at the NHL Trade Deadline if the price makes sense, but one of their main priorities has to be finding the right partners for Jack Hughes.

3. Scott Laughton

Scott Laughton was the final of the three players LeBrun listed as potential trade targets for New Jersey. Laughton is the kind of player who chips in offensively, is solid defensively, and throws the body — making him a perfect addition to the Devils' roster.

He's been in the rumor mill for quite some time and carries a reasonable $3 million cap hit.

4. Trent Frederic

Trent Frederic, currently with the Boston Bruins, was a 2016 first-round pick and is a pending unrestricted free agent. In 47 games this season, the 6-foot-3 forward has seven goals, 14 points, and 132 hits.

If the Devils acquired Frederic, he would have the potential to give their bottom six a nice boost. This is due to his heavy game of play and how he contributes offensively — as his 18 goals and 40 points last season show. He also can play both down the middle and on the wing, setting him up well to pair with Hughes.

5. Quinn Hughes

Now, this is a long-shot and is certainly not reasonable as Quinn Hughes is the current captain of Vancouver. But, it would be fun to see.

All three Hughes brothers, Jack, Luke, and Quinn, have expressed a desire to play together in the NHL, considering it a dream to share the ice as siblings in a professional game. They have openly stated that playing alongside each other is something they've talked about and looked forward to for a long time.

As such, Quinn is an amazing defenseman. The former Norris Trophy winner would pair well with both Jack and Luke due to their life-long chemistry.
