Halsey
Born in Edison, NJ
Ashley Nicolette Frangipane would later turn into the singer and songwriter Halsey. She’s one of the biggest act in music whenever she produces an album. It’s been a relatively short career so far for the 30-year-old, but it all started with New Jersey roots. She was born and raised in Central Jersey, yes it exists. She was born in Edison, and she graduated from high school in Washington Township. Her family wasn’t able to establish roots in one town and constantly moved, but she remained within the borders of Jersey.
She actually left the state to get inspired for her music, living with a boyfriend on Halsey Street in Brooklyn. This was around the time she started sharing her music on different platforms online, including YouTube, Kik, and SoundCloud. She was eventually discovered after writing a follow up to the Taylor Swift song “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and she eventually signed with a record label.
Since her big break, Halsey has returned to New Jersey to perform on several locations, including the PNC Bank Arts Center and Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. She will continue to return to this state, as it's an incredible place to perform without having to deal with New York City. Around seven years ago, she even got to perform at the home of the Devils, the Prudential Center.
