Jack Hughes has missed the last handful of games with a minor injury. He has been considered day-to-day, but hasn't suited up for the New Jersey Devils.

With that came concern that he won't be available for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina. On Thursday, Michael Russo of The Athletic confirmed that Jack would be available.

Of course, Russo covers the Wild, who currently employ Jack's brother Quinn Hughes. The elder Hughes will also be a key contributor to Team USA in Milan.

This is important news for Team USA because Jack Hughes is one of their most talented forwards. If they can make sure he's productive by putting him in a good situation, that could be one of the things that puts them over the edge in pursuit of a Gold Medal.

Every player in the NHL would make sure they are back to full strength before returning if it meant that they would be healthy enough to represent their country. It's in a hockey player's DNA for the Olympics to be important to them.

In 36 games played for the Devils so far this year, Hughes has 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points. Even in a down, injury-riddled year, Hughes is a point-per-game player. Nobody can take away his ability to be a game-breaking superstar.

New Jersey is not in a good spot when it comes to the standings. They must go on a run, almost an unrealistic run, if they want to make the playoffs when the break is over. For that to happen, Jack Hughes must be healthy and on top of his game.

If he shows up in Milan and has a big tournament en route to a Gold Medal, that could be a confidence booster like no other. Returning to the NHL to play with the Devils after something like that could lead to some special performances.

When everything is going right, there are a few forwards on Team USA's roster that an NHL GM would rather have than Jack Hughes. If every one of their elite players in the conversation comes together to play at their best at the right time, it could be an incredibly memorable tournament for the United States.

It is easy to be frustrated with Jack Hughes' current injury luck. The truth is, however, that he is an undersized young player. The cut to his finger was a freak accident, and the other injuries he's sustained can be avoided in the future with smarter decision-making and getting stronger. His talent and ability to produce up to this point are enough to believe in him.
