The New Jersey Devils have a stud in Jesper Bratt and they know it. He has become everything they could have ever asked for and more as a sixth-round NHL Draft pick.
Bratt is now one of the best offensive players in the world and that earned him a spot on Team Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off. Not only is he on the team, but he also has a huge role. He plays in the top six, skates on the power play, and has the most points of any player on the team in the NHL.
Sweden opened up against Canada on Wednesday night. It started horribly for them as they yielded a power-play goal under a minute into the game. Nathan MacKinnon scored from Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid on a play that looked like a video game.

Not long after, Brad Marchand scored a goal off a beautiful play made by Brayden Point and Seth Jarvis to give Canada a 2-0 lead before Sweden even had a shot on goal. From there, they bounced back and started to play well. After getting on the board thanks to a goal by Jonas Brodin, Canada restored their two-goal lead thanks to a goal scored by Mark Stone.
Adrian Kempe got Sweden back within one again with a beautiful shot, which made the end of the game more interesting. In the third period, New Jersey Devils forward Jesper Bratt made a great play that helped Sweden earn a standings point.
After receiving a brilliant pass from Lucas Raymond, he made an incredible net-front feed to Joel Eriksson Ek, and he didn't miss his chance. The Swedes tied the game and it eventually went to overtime.
Jesper Bratt was essential in Sweden securing a point against Canada
By going to overtime, Canada forfeited their chance at three points and the Swedes earned at least one. The Canadiens did earn the second point when Mitch Marner scored in overtime, a third goal assisted by the first star of the game, Sidney Crosby.
Right before Marner scored the OT winner, Bratt made a high-danger feed to William Nylander but the Toronto Maple Leafs star was unable to accept the pass without mishandling it. Canada took it the other way and took advantage of that Swedish misfortune.
New Jersey Devils fans can be happy that their guy came up big for his nation when they needed it most. Jesper Bratt is one of the biggest reasons why Team Sweden earned a point and has a chance going forward in this tournament.
Next up for the Devils in this tournament, Jack Hughes and Team USA are going to take on Erik Haula and Team Finland on Thursday night. That should be an incredible match between two teams coming in thinking that they can win. Until then, we can be proud of Bratt and all he is accomplishing.
