The New Jersey Devils and the Professional Women's Hockey League announced that Devils Director of Player Development Meghan Duggan will join the league as a Special Consultant to Hockey Operations. Duggan has an impressive resume, and she's been rising the ranks in the Devils front office. She was hired as the Manager of Player Development back in May of 2021.

Duggan's resume includes on-ice accolades and off-ice leadership roles. She's an Olympic gold medalist and a two-time Olympic silver medalist with Team USA. The 37-year-old also has seven IIHF World Championship gold medals to her name. She played two seasons with the PWHL with the Buffalo Beauts and Boston Pride. She retired from professional hockey after the 2019-20 season.

Since her retirement, she's worked in leadership roles everywhere she's been. She's served on the USA Hockey Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Women’s Advisory Committee and was a part of the initial NHL Inclusion Committee.

Her new role includes strengthening player safety in the league, building international federation relations, enhancing rules and standard of play, player development and growing the league organically.

Duggan will continue with her role in New Jersey, and she's expected to have a bright future. She might even become an NHL general manager one day. She has also coached in the past, but we imagine coaching would take away too much of her role with the PWHL.

According to the release, Meghan will help prioritize advancement and innovation in women's hockey.

“The opportunity to join the PWHL to continue to impact and help push the women's game forward is one that I am very excited about. This league and its players have just scratched the surface in terms of what they are capable of and I look forward to advising and assisting in any way that I can.”

We expect Duggan to continue to build her resume in hockey. She's a shooting star that will be a great leader, whether it's for men's or women's hockey.
