Jack Hughes
Goals: 15 Assists: 32 Points: 47
Grade: A
Jack Hughes deserves an A for his offense, but he really deserves an A because of the player he's become on both sides of the ice. After a month, Sheldon Keefe saw just how skilled this team could be, and he placed Jack Hughes on the penalty kill. That led to a true "power kill," where the Devils have just as many chances on a PK as the other team does. Hughes only has 23 minutes on the PK this season, but he has caused havoc for opposing goalies and hasn't seen one power-play goal scored against him.
Nico Hischier
Goals: 19 Assists: 16 Points: 35
Grade: A
Nico Hischier became the first New Jersey Devils player to lead the NHL in goals for more than the first few days of the season. The start where the team played in Czechia before anyone else helped, but Hischier was legitimately scoring at will to start this season. He was a power-play superstar, putting up 13 PP points this season. He leads the Devils with 19 goals, putting him on pace for a career-high 37 goals. He's also been a part of that fantastic penalty kill, playing 92 minutes with the man disadvantage, most of any forward.
Stefan Noesen
Goals: 16 Assists: 11 Points: 27
Grade: A-
Stefan Noesen looked like a huge risk when the Devils signed him to a three-year deal worth close to $3 million per season. He had been a player making less than $1 million every season since leaving the Devils, giving value to those franchises, but he cashed in where he first found his NHL footing. Noesen built his value as an NHLer back, and this season, it's hit a fever pitch. He was so good on the third line to start the season that he got a promotion to Nico Hischier's line and the top power-play unit. He's been good on both, although his scoring dried up ever so slightly as of late.
