This is an exciting time for the New Jersey Devils and their fans. The draft and free agency are fast approaching, the Stanley Cup Finals are living up to the hype, and the trades are already upon us. The excitement and anticipation is overwhelming. It truly is one of the many reasons why this sport trumps all others.

Before the much-anticipated trade for Jacob Markstrom, an unfortunate announcement was made by Erika Wachter that she would not be returning to MSG networks for this upcoming season. After six seasons covering Devils hockey, MSG networks chose not to renew her contract. News of this decision has been met with feelings of disappointment and overwhelming support from Devils fans. Quite an unpopular piece of news. Fans and true followers of the team put forth their thanks and appreciation online, wishing Wachter the best in her future endeavors.

Wachter started covering New Jersey Devils hockey in the 2018-19 season. During six seasons at MSG, she skillfully executed her many responsibilities with magnificent class and superb performance. Every Devils game night started and ended with her. In pre and postgame talks, she conveyed a passion for her work and an energy that we, as fans, yearned to match on a nightly basis.

Her exit from Devils hockey on the MSG Network is an unfortunate decision, and she will be greatly missed. To Erika, we express appreciation for her work during these past six seasons. We desire nothing but the best for her in what will, no doubt, be a wonderful career moving forward. Thank you, Erika.
