Next 5 former New Jersey Devils to make the Hockey Hall of Fame

The Hockey Hall of Fame induction is the greatest honor in the sport. With 306 players (including twelve women) represented, we take a look at the former New Jersey Devils players who can add to that number.

Jaromir Jagr

Another obvious one. Jaromir Jagr would already be in the Hall of Fame if he wasn’t trying to keep his current team Kladno afloat in the Czechia league. With the Devils starting the season in Prague, we wouldn’t be surprised if Jagr is a part of the opening ceremonies. While he wasn’t part of a championship Devils team, he was wildly popular in the two seasons he spent in New Jersey.

However, it’s what he did prior to his Jersey signing that makes him a Hall of Famer. Jagr was already over 40 years old when he signed with Lou Lamoriello. He had a full career, which included 581 goals and well over 1,000 points. After a few more years with Jersey, Florida, and Calgary, he finished his NHL career with 766 goals and 1,921 points.

Only Wayne Gretzky has more points in their NHL career than Jaromir Jagr. That’s nutty. Is some of that his ridiculous longevity? Sure, but he also boasted 1.11 points per game for his career, which has him ahead of the likes of Bobby and Brett Hull, Alex Ovechkin, Paul Coffey, and Mark Messier (who is third in total points).

Jagr is the most anticipated Hall of Famer not honored yet. He isn’t there for an honorable reason, but he’s 52 years old. The train can only continue for so long. When he does go into the Hall, we as Devils fans will celebrate.
