Team by Team NHL Mock Draft: Most intriguing forward falls right to the New Jersey Devils

With just under two weeks before the 2024 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils can make a significant splash if they keep the No. 10 pick.

10th Overall: New Jersey Devils - Konsta Helenius, C/Jukurit

Quite a few draft prospects have climbed the boards recently, and with FC Hockey giving Konsta Helenius a fifth-overall ranking when I concocted this mock draft, it took about two seconds for me to push the ‘Draft’ button. Helenius, despite lacking a wow factor with any of his attributes, is one of the more consistent and, thereby, intriguing forwards in this draft class.

While we likely won’t see Helenius playing full-time in North America until 2025-26, it shouldn’t matter too much, as he could end up dominating in Liiga. At 17, he played in 57 games when you count the playoffs and finished with 42 points and 16 goals, telling us he can be a good scorer and an even better playmaker.

Before the 2023-24 season, Helenius was one of the best players Tappara’s U20 SM-sarja team had to offer, and he finished the year with 28 points and eight goals in 19 games, but Liiga was already on the radar. He saw action in 33 games and put up three goals with 11 total points, which set the stage for a breakout this season.

Overall, he’s going to be a fun prospect to follow, which would be a bonus if he ended up in the Devils system on June 28th.
