Superstar internet celebrity stuns many after posting in a New Jersey Devils jersey
Superstar musician and dancer Tate McRae recently posted on her social media account in a New Jersey Devils jersey. It gave Devils fans a lot to talk about on a Monday night.
"Run for the Hills" and "Greedy" singer-songwriter Tate McRae has officially declared herself a New Jersey Devils fan.
The dual-threat singer and dancer has a combined social media following of over 12.5 million and an average of 39.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. On Monday, Sept. 9, she posted a Tik Tok to her personal page rocking her own Devils jersey while simultaneously promoting her upcoming new music release.
The New Jersey Devils last made the playoffs in 2023, when they lost the Conference Semi-Finals. They were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs last season in the 2-5 loss to Toronto but the team remains one of the most popular in the NHL due to the roster stacked with star potential.
Her Tik Tok was posted on Monday afternoon, and has already racked up 178,000 likes and almost 2,000 comments.
Most of the comments are filled with people pointing out the jersey, bringing the Devils even more attention than they already have going into the upcoming season.
Some may find it strange that McRae has declared herself a Devils fan, as she is a Canada native. However, the singer has plenty of experience when it comes to knowing what to look for on the ice.
The Canadian multiplatinum star performed during the second intermission of the NHL All-Star Game in February. McRae also served as a celebrity captain for Team MacKinnon. McRae is one of four celebrities previously named captains for the NHL All-Star Game, along with global superstar Justin Bieber, Toronto-born actor Will Arnett, and Grammy Award-winning musician Michael Bublé.
Her performance was very positively reviewed, with many hockey fans hoping she will return for more NHL appearances in the future.
While McRae's new song will be released on Thursday night, the Devils' 2024-25 season opener is rapidly approaching. On October 4, the Devils will fight the Buffalo Sabres in Prague, Czechia for the NHL Global Series.
