The New Jersey Devils are going to announce their quarter-century first and second teams. Each team will have three forwards, two defensemen, and a goalie who played for the team from 2000-2024. Every team in the league will have theirs announced by the end of January.
For the Devils specifically, there are a lot of great options for them to have in these spots. There have been appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, big-time seasons on an individual level, and plenty of awards won by players.
Based on statistics and what they mean to the team historically, this is what the teams should look like when they are announced:
First Team
Patrik Elias - Jack Hughes - Zach Parise
Scott Stevens - Scott Niedermayer
Martin Brodeur
The New Jersey Devils have had a few Hall of Fame played play for them in their history. Most of them are on the back end or in net. Scott Stevens, Scott Niedermayer, and Martin Brodeur are among them and are locks for this team. Right now, it’s hard to argue against them as the three greatest in franchise history.
Patrik Elias hasn’t made it to the Hall of Fame yet but he should one day. He is, at this time, the greatest forward in Devils history. Zach Parise was elite in a Devils sweater and nobody can take that away from him. As for Jack Hughes, the 2019 number-one pick has been nothing short of excellent since being drafted.
