NHL Commanders: A G.I. Joe Story

AUTHOR: | IN: Devils | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

In the summer we can always bank on two things, heat and blockbuster movies. Well, at least around the New York area we can still expect some blockbuster movies, since it seems to rain everyday around here. With it being August and summer headed into the home stretch, the last big movie of the summer is G.I. Joe. The latest of the biggest trend in the movie industry, to take a child’s show or cartoon and make it into a movie and put it on the big screen. G.I. Joe was for years the little boys equivalent to Barbie and [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Devils | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

08/06/2009 A couple weeks back, I did a piece on what I thought, were the best hockey uniforms of then and now. AUTHOR: | IN: Devils | COMMENTS: None Yet

On April 5th, the Devils made a bit of news by re-signing veteran winger Brendan Shanahan. This will be Shanahan’s 22nd NHL season and 6th with the Devils. Shanny is amongst the best players of all time and has brought success to a few NHL teams in his years. Last season, Shanny joined the Devils in the middle of the year and actually scored a goal in his first game back in Nashville (he had 6 goals, and 8 assists in 34 games). In an interview with for The Record’s Tom Gulitti (which you can find here http://njmg.typepad.com/devilsblog/2009/08/brendan-shanahan-happy-to-be-back-with-the-devils.html#more ) Shanahan went [...]

The Rangers Tell Zherdev To Shove It

AUTHOR: | IN: Devils | COMMENTS: None Yet

In some late news, the Rangers announced earlier in the week, on Tuesday, they will be walking away from the arbitrator’s ruling on forward Nikolai Zherdev. This makes Zherdev an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign with any team, while the Rangers will not get anything back for him. Zherdev was a huge let down for the Rags, as the Rangers fully expected him to be an integral part of their offense. While Zherdev was by no means an Ovechkin like force, he still had decent numbers, he just vanished in the playoffs and that is when it [...]

A Look at Taylor Pyatt

AUTHOR: | IN: Devils | COMMENTS: None Yet

Alright, so the last time I      was here, I spoke about a  potential addition to New  Jersey that could really help  this team out next year. I  discussed the benefits of  signing Petr Sykora again.  Well, now I’m here to  discuss some more possibilities. How about Taylor Pyatt? He has never been an overwhelming force in this league, however, he has a lot of talent, and given the right situation I can really see him being a 20 goal scorer in a season. In the 2006-07 season with Vancouver, Pyatt had his first twenty goal season, with 23 [...]
