The game was a classic goaltending clash that featured the Devils main-stay in net, Martin Brodeur and the Penguins backup Brent Johnson. It can be dubbed as a goalie duel due to how well each team played, putting up a high amount of shots on each. Brent Johnson stopped 31 out of 33 Devils shots (the 33rd shot was an empty netter) keeping his team right in the game until the clock struck zero. However, the man of the night, as it is on a lot of other nights, was Martin Brodeur. He was brilliant on the same night that [...]

Paul Martin Out Another Month
I learned today that Devils defenseman and minute eater, Paul Martin will be out at least another month. He is still recovering from a forearm injury he suffered against the Penguins earlier in the year. Martin had minor surgery to the arm on Tuesday. Lou Lamoriello said that the outside of the arm was healing just fine, but the inside was not healing at the rate in which doctors were hoping for. This is certainly bad news for Martin, but is it for New Jersey? The Devils are playing excellent hockey and seem to have what was once role players [...]
Marty Breaks Shutout Record
CONGRATULATIONS TO MARTIN BRODEUR ON SHUTOUT #104! What a great way to get it done too. He did it after getting yanked in his last game in Atlanta, up against the division rival, Stanley Cup Champ, Pittsburgh Penguins and it put the Devils in sole possession of first place in the division. Whew! That was a lot to say, but they are all valid points and more to add on top of this incredible feat that Marty has accomplished. I just want anyone who is reading this to take a moment before I get into the actual game itself. Think [...]
First off, I would like to congratulate Martin Brodeur on setting another record on Friday night; he went ahead of Patrick Roy in the most games played as a goaltender against the Senators. Now on to the game itself, they faced the Ottawa Senators on Friday night, who came into The Prudential Center having lost their last eight to the Devils. This latest contest between the two would be an up and down affair that didn’t have an obvious winner until the latter parts of the third period.
It was a hard fought battle in Newark on this night, as the [...]
Senators vs. Devils Look A-Head
It is a new night, a new game night for the Devils. Although they won their last game against the struggling Canadiens, they struggled through-out that game themselves. New Jersey went 0-5 on the power play on that night, as well as giving up a shorty while on one of those power plays. We escaped that game on the play of our goalie (he tends to do that for us occasionally) but tonight I would like to see them have a little more conviction on offense from the drop of the puck. I don’t want them to “work up to [...]

Brodeur’s Latest Record
I didn’t really take a good amount of time to talk about the latest record reached by Martin Brodeur last night but I am going to do so at this time. This one is all about his longevity, how he plays almost every night and has hardly suffered any major injuries through out his long, illustrious career (last year was his first serious one). For him to be able to say he has appeared in 1,029 games now and counting is truly an accolade in which only a legend can accomplish. The most games appeared in by any player is [...]
Devils Win Ugly Against Habs
Some of you out there may have heard this one before, but I am going to say it anyway. “Winners find ways to win and losers find ways to lose”. I write this because Wednesday night’s victory was hardly a pretty one for Jersey, but it was still a win, and that is all that matters in the long run. The Devils trailed and needed a lucky bounce just to get on the board to tie this one up, but when you are a great team in the NHL you will find a way to win, you will come up [...]
