The Somerset Patriots, a minor league baseball team based in Bridgewater Township, are hosting a New Jersey Devils Night on August 15th. The game starts at 7:05 PM. The Patriots will face the Long Island Ducks.
We’ve touched on how the Devils need to be better at marketing individual players – paging #N1CO – but it is important for the team to market itself. Reaching out to sports fans in Central Jersey – especially the more family-friendly atmosphere of minor league ball – can help both foster a love of hockey and bring back lapsed fans to fill the seats.
Plus, any reminder that hockey exists in mid-Autumn is a good thing. Remember when hockey news was a thing that happened? Boy, those were fun times.

Ken Daneyko will throw out the first pitch and will sign autographs during the first few innings. The New Jersey Devil will be on hand to take pictures with fans. Hockey-related games and activities will take place outside the park. The first 1,000 fans will be given red rally towels, courtesy of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Fans that buy tickets at the game will get $2 off if they are wearing New Jersey Devils gear – an absolute steal, since the tickets are so cheap already.
About The Patriots
The Somerset Patriots have been around since 1998 and are one of the flagship teams of Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. They’re the last ALPB team left in New Jersey since the Camden Riversharks folded and Newark Bears departed the league and dissolved. They have taken to representing New Jersey in some matters – much like the Devils. They hosted the ALPB All Star game this year, were the First Half Season Champions, and currently sport the second best record in the league.
