On today’s New Jersey Devils Daily, the team plays two preseason games Monday night, the next round of cuts looms over the young players on the team and Miles Wood is happy he wasn’t seriously injured.

There are many players who have proven they deserve to make the New Jersey Devils this season. Unfortunately, John Quenneville is not one of them. He hasn’t been bad, but a player in his position needed to stand out this preseason. His lack of big plays and consistent hockey will eventually force John Hynes to send him down to the AHL  to start the season.

New Jersey Devils: John Quenneville Not Making Team With His Play

John Fischer with All About the Jersey takes a deeper dive into the next round of cuts. He guesses which Devils will make it past the cut tomorrow. There’s only one more preseason game after this, so the Devils will likely put their Opening Night roster to work for the final game. He predicts who will make it to the roster after tomorrow, and there are some interesting choices. Steve Santini makes the team over Will Butcher. Jesper Bratt sneaks his way to an Opening Night tryout. Jimmy Hayes doesn’t make the team despite playing well after the first game. Take a look at his roster, because it’s actually making me excited.

Guessing the Next Round of Training Camp Cuts for the New Jersey Devils

Like I said before, the Devils play two games tonight. Both these games are very important for so many players. Chris Ryan with NJ.com lays out the lineups for both games. What’s interesting is the team clearly sent an A team away and kept the B team to play in Brooklyn against the New York Islanders. What’s most interesting, however, is in the A team game, Adam Henrique is playing on the third line. He came into the preseason as the favorite to play on the top line with Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri. Now, he’s playing with Bratt and Brandon Gignac. Maybe this doesn’t mean anything and he will be on the second line to start the season, but it could mean the Devils think Pavel Zacha already passed him.

Andrew Gross with NorthJersey.com talks about the relief that is Miles Wood. He took a hard hit against the Rangers on Saturday night. Andrew Desjardins, who is on a PTO, was given a match penalty for hitting Wood in the head. Now, he’s facing a disciplinary hearing with the NHL. Wood clearly wasn’t happy about the hit, and says it crossed a line. Luckily, there are no ill effects and he evaded a possible concussion.

Devils’ Wood relieved to be OK after hard hit

ESPN actually talked about hockey! And the New Jersey Devils at that! Chuck Gormley previews that Devils season a few days before it begins. Unsurprisingly, he chooses the Devils to finish last in the Metropolitan Division. This is a possibility, being that the division looks stacked. What is surprising is their goalie situation was given a 5 out 10 rating. Cory Schneider is a very good goalie. Last year was an anomaly.
