New Jersey Devils Welcome Back Chico Resch As Radio Color Analyst
The New Jersey Devils surprised fans with the announcement Glenn “Chico” Resch would be returning to the team. It was one of the very few ways that the radio broadcast could be resolved favorably.
At the end of last season, the New Jersey Devils made a major change on the radio side. Sherry Ross was let go after ten seasons bringing Devils games to its fanbase.
This was a hard move for fans to take. Ross was a pioneer in the business. She was the first woman to call a Stanley Cup Finals game back in 1994. Ross became the first female play-by-play analyst when she called the Devils-Senators game back in 2009. It was hard for fans to swallow a move replacing Ross with a whole new voice.
The owners did this by bringing back a familiar voice.
The Devils announced that Glenn “Chico” Resch will return to the team as a color analyst. Fans were used to hearing Chico’s voice as part of the MSG broadcast for 18 years. He left the team two seasons ago and was replaced by Ken Daneyko. Daneyko has been very good in the role, so the need for Chico was not on the TV side.

The Devils needed a color analyst on the radio broadcasts. Matt Loughlin is very good in his play-by-play role, but a one-person broadcast never sounds as good. Bringing in Chico will provide a known commodity to a veteran in the business.
Chico can even tape some more Chico Eats segments for the intermissions. With so many new food options at the Prudential Center, this would become a fan favorite immediately.
This was the right move for the Devils. Fans are excited to hear his voice once again calling Jersey’s team. It seems the Devils brass is making moves for the fans, and that’s a better direction than what many believe has been happening.
