After rumors of a stall being added to the New Jersey Devils locker room, it seems like John Quenneville isn’t joining the team after all.
The New Jersey Devils are coming off another loss Tuesday night. The St. Louis Blues really took it to the team in a funk right now. One way the Devils could try to get out of their funk is calling one of the young guns from the AHL.
A tweet by Chris Ryan seemed like that’s exactly what was happening today.
The perceived news excited Devils fans. John Quenneville has been playing well with the Binghamton Devils. He has four goals and two assists in six games. His game would be welcomed on a team that’s struggling to stay consistent.
Unfortunately, it seems like Quenneville’s locker addition is actually bad news.
Yet another injury for a Devils team that has a plethora. Quenneville is at the big club to rehab a shoulder injury with the best doctors in the organization. He’s in a similar position as Mike McLeod, who’s recovering from a knee injury.
This, of course, is bad news. People were getting excited for a new player to wear the NJ crest, but now we’re dealing with another injury issue.

The Devils still need something to provide a spark after the first three-game losing streak of the season. They take on the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, who took them to the woodshed just one week ago. Quenneville could have been that spark. Adding an extra body, someone who’s excited to play in the NHL again, could bleed into the rest of the team.
There are other things the Devils can do to provide a spark. Other NHL players like Nick Lappin and Nathan Bastian have been playing well in the minors. A call up from one of them could help, but probably not as much as Quenneville would.
