The New Jersey Devils came out with a win against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, but it didn’t come without a cost. Taylor Hall was injured on a knee-to-knee collision. Thankfully, it looks like the injury is not major.
New Jersey Devils fans were given the best non-news of the season on Wednesday afternoon. After waiting all morning for an update on Taylor Hall, the little information given seems like the injury is minor. He had a scary knee-to-knee collision with Kurtis MacDermid, who is about seven times his size. Hall wasn’t able to immediately get on his feet, and Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt went right after the Los Angeles Kings player.
Hall was announced out for the day at the start of Devils practice. While that clearly isn’t ideal, it was announced he could make the trip to Montreal on Thursday. We have to believe if the injury was major that the coach would say that’s not even possible.
John Hynes has been very tight lipped for what Hall is dealing with. It was hard to tell what was going on, since Hall didn’t return Tuesday night but the Devils were holding a sizable lead when the injury occurred.

The Devils are already without Kyle Palmieri and Marcus Johansson. Both players are confirmed out for Thursday night’s tilt across the border. Hall could still be out on Thursday, which would be a major blow for an already shorthanded offense. However, if it’s one game to keep the star player healthy then so be it. The Devils need Hall for much more than just one game. They are currently fighting for their playoff lives, and it is just December. Hall is the key to keeping this team afloat for the next four months.
Again, nothing is confirmed yet, but as of now it looks like it could be good news. Many Devils fans were worried that it could be weeks before we saw number 9 back on the ice. Now, it looks like at worst he could be ready for the weekend. Thank goodness for small miracles.
