PITTSBURGH, PA - FEBRUARY 27: Kyle Palmieri

The New Jersey Devils took the best shot from the defending champs, and came out on top. This win shows that no matter what, the Devils can play with anyone.

The New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins played one of the most entertaining games of the season on Tuesday night. It was constant back and forth, with great goals, amazing saves and everything you’d want from a professional hockey game. The stars played like stars, the mistakes turned into huge plays and everyone showed up at the same time.

While all that happened, the Devils came out with a huge win.

The Penguins came into this game winning 11 straight games at home. That’s intimidating for any team coming in. This Devils team doesn’t seem to get intimidated before the game. Sometimes they get shell shocked during the game, when a call goes the wrong way or a lucky goal goes in, but coming into every game they think they can win.

Taylor Hall was his usual ridiculous self. He assisted on Kyle Palmieri’s goal to tie it at one, and then put the Devils up 2-1 with a rebound goal in the second period. He was all over the ice, making great defensive plays and entering the zone without immediately lose it. We are at 22 games straight with a point (I don’t care what you say NHL) with no end in sight.

More from Pucks and Pitchforks

This month alone, which wasn’t the Devils best, this team beat Pittsburgh twice, Philadelphia twice and Tampa Bay. Three of the best teams in the Eastern Conference went 0-5 against our New Jersey Devils. Yes, there were losses to teams this month, including Columbus twice, but it proves this team can play with anyone. In fact, the Flyers lost one of their last 11 games, and it was against the Devils.

Everything is falling into place at the perfect time. Andy Greene is making much less mistakes than he was a month ago, and found great chemistry with Sami Vatanen. Keith Kinkaid remembered how to play the goalie position, and he’s playing very well. The offense is clicking after a few rough weeks, and all four lines are getting chances.

This Devils team could be scary come April, especially with Cory Schneider on the cusp on coming back. If Tuesday night’s team finds a way to stay this consistent, making the playoffs may just be the floor. This team could make noise.
