Blake Coleman scored one of the best goals of the season with a one-handed, backhand shot. This could be something he keeps using to give the New Jersey Devils an edge.
What a goal it was. Blake Coleman comes in on Matt Murray with one man to beat. Since he isn’t Miles Wood or Michael Grabner, he wasn’t able to skate past Bryan Rust. However, he was able to hold him off with one arm, and shoot a backhander with the other. That was good for the second goal in the New Jersey Devils win against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A one-handed, backhanded goal is something we see very rarely in the NHL. That didn’t stop him from doing it one night later. However, this time Andrei Vasilevskiy was able to stop it.
As the New Jersey Devils Twitter says, Blake Coleman has a new go-to move.

Clearly, Coleman has practiced this move before. His shot was so on point, one may call it lucky if it happened once. With him taking another one-handed shot with a man on top of him, it shows he knows what he’s doing with the move.
There’s only seven games left in this season. That doesn’t give other teams enough time to watch the film on this new move. If he is able to do it with consistency, this could really put the Devils up on other teams. With Coleman playing on the penalty kill, he has the opportunity to use this move more often. He could really change a game with one goal, especially a goal that looks like that.
Beautiful goals like that can really get a team hyped up. After he scored the first one, Nico Hischier potted a goal 90 seconds later.
The Devils need as many scoring weapons as possible. Coleman adding another one to the Devils arsenal can really help them in their playoff push.
