MARTIN BRODEUR IS BACK! It came out on Monday morning that Marty Brodeur has left his position with the St. Louis Blues to pursue other opportunities. That left everyone wondering, what is next for Brodeur? A return to the New Jersey Devils seemed like the play for him.

Sure enough, it was. Wednesday morning it was made official on social media by the team and Brodeur himself that he will return to the  Devils organization on the business side of things. It was speculated all day on Tuesday that it would be announced sooner than later.

It was made official that he was named the Vice President of Business Development. It will be his duty to report to New Jersey Devils President, Hugh Weber. He will be working in community activities and business opportunities for the Devils and Prudential Center. It is also hard to imagine the team not using his incredible knowledge of the game to their full advantage.

More from Pucks and Pitchforks

New Jersey is the only place that Martin Brodeur belongs in the end. He is the greatest player in franchise history, and in the minds of most people, he is the greatest goaltender to ever live.

The stats speak for themselves. With 691 wins, Brodeur has more wins than any goalie to ever hit the ice. He also has the most career shutouts with 125. Both of these numbers are incredible and all time, but the thing that is most impressive is the culture of winning that he brought to the New Jersey Devils in the 1990s. It kept going all the way through his career, ending it during the 2014-15 campaign. That alone is a reason to have him back with the team.

The fan reaction to the news to no ones surprised is very positive. Everyone know what Martin Brodeur means to the Devils and their fans, I mean they built a statue for the guy. It is incredibly great news to have him back in the fold. As general manager Ray Shero constantly preaches: “It is an exciting time to be a Devils fan”.
