3. John Quenneville

This has to be the year for John Quenneville, right? I mean, we’ve been waiting for four years for him to make the roster. He’s been in the AHL since 2016, when he first made his pro debut. That season, he ended up playing 12 games with New Jersey. Last year, he only played in two. This season, he’s in trouble of getting passed by completely.

Quenneville is a decent player, but he just isn’t the offensive juggernaut he could have been. He scored 31 goals in his final season with the Brandon Wheat Kings. It looked like he was becoming one of the Devils better offensive prospects. Things just haven’t clicked in the AHL. Whether it’s injuries, playing with lesser linemates or dealing with the pressure that comes with being a first-round pick with a famous last name, Quenneville needed something more.

Quenneville needs to have a good camp in order to make the Devils. There are a lot of players going for only a few spots. Quenneville has so much to lose. If he can’t find a way to prove his age and experience are better than those with better raw skill, then he may never find his way on the main roster.
