3. John Hynes For Jack Adams Award

John Hynes was completely overlooked for the Jack Adams Award last season. He ended up ranking sixth, which was behind Peter Laviolette, who’s Nashville Predators were supposed to be a power house. The Devils were supposed to be a 75 point team, yet they ended up making the playoffs.

If Hynes can do it again, with a roster with just as many question marks, he will definitely be in consideration for the Jack Adams Award. There is no expansion team to make the playoffs and blow away the award. In fact, unless the Arizona Coyotes find a way to make a jump, there’s not really a great candidate for the award right now.

Hynes can slip in there in an off year, and get the votes the year after he deserved more love. Obviously, like most of these awards, he would need to make the playoffs in order to be under consideration. Anything less than that would be considered a failure of a season.
