The New Jersey Devils’ Kyle Palmieri took part in his first All Star Game replacing the injured Taylor Hall. Palmieri had one goal and one assist, helping the Metropolitan Division win in the 2019 All-Star Game tournament. Palmieri and his teammates will split a one million dollar prize, after a very successful weekend in San Jose.

It was a fun weekend for Devils fans to watch our guy play with the leagues best players. For example, All-Star Game MVP Sidney Crosby had a pretty big helping hand in Palmieri winning the tournament. It was really cool to see Palmieri play with some other elite players like Cam Atkinson and Seth Jones.

Palmieri had one assist on a Jones goal in the first game against the Atlantic Division. He added a goal himself in the championship game against the Central Division and they ultimately won the game. Palmieri definitely looked like he was having a good time.

The Metropolitan Division has had some luck lately, as they have now won the tournament two times in the last three seasons. They won this one with a bit of ease, as Crosby sort of took over with fellow Pittsburgh Penguins player Kris Letang.

Palmieri also participated in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Friday night. He was used in the accuracy shooting. He got off to a rough start, but once he got in a rhythm he started to nail the targets. He finished in 7th place with a time of 20.209.

Everybody who follows this team knows how well Palmieri is at shooting and how accurate he is. He is the Devils goal scoring leader and it was awesome to see him get recognized for it. Although it is not ideal for the team that Taylor Hall is injured, it is nice to see Palmieri participating in the All-Star weekend festivities!

So what now for Palmieri and the New Jersey Devils? Well, that Crosby guy and the Penguins are going to host them at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh to kick off the post All Star break portion of the schedule on Monday night.

They sit 15 points out playoff position in the Eastern Conference going into it, so making the playoffs looks like a long shot but playing well and getting ready for next year is the main goal. The next milestone on the NHL Calendar is the trade deadline, and they are sure to be active with some expiring contracts coming up!
