New Jersey Devils: It Would Be Ideal To Not Get Blown Out By Boston

The New Jersey Devils are in a big lottery race right now with three other teams, but that doesn’t mean they should want to get embarrassed.

The New Jersey Devils currently have the fourth least amount of points in the National Hockey League. Only the Ottawa Senators, Los Angeles Kings, and the Detroit Red Wings have fewer points. The Devils have a realistic shot at the second-worst record and will be real lottery contenders on April 9th when the NHL does its lottery.

Don’t bring up the lottery to any of the players, they do not care. They are playing for their own jobs. They are paid, professionals. They could care less about Jack Hughes or Kappo Kaako unless they actually become teammates. The notion of “possibly” becoming their teammate right now though bores them.

As fans, it is okay to root for the teams also in lottery contention to keep collecting points. If you want to root for the Devils to lose that is on you. The thing you should absolutely not want is the big bad Boston Bruins or any other elite team for that matter to embarrass them. They need to show everyone that once the kids develop and the injuries are no longer an issue that the New Jersey Devils are going to be good and everyone should not be taken lightly.

The Devils are not a loser organization. They are a proud, cultured, and historically good organization the deserves respect no matter what. They’ve had elite players come and go and the past paved the way for the future. If the Bruins win it isn’t much of a big deal, but it would be very annoying to see them get absolutely blown out.

More from Pucks and Pitchforks

It looked like they were blown out at home against the Washington Capitals if you look at the scoreboard, but a stretch of quick offense by the Caps ended the chances of the Devils winning the game. Other than that they just couldn’t score, but they resembled a team that belonged against the defending Stanley Cup Champions that are looking to do it again come springtime.

The Bruins have everything cooking right now. With the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and tied for the second-best record in the entire NHL, they are truly real Stanley Cup contenders. They have guys like Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak that can burn you. Oh, you kept them from scoring? Well, how did you do against David Krejci and Jake Debrusk? A team like that comes in waves and the Devils need to put their best foot forward.

There are eight games left. We can get through this. The future is bright and everyone needs to stay strong and stick with their team through thick and thin. Let’s go Devils.
