The Nashville Predators star defenseman seems to have an intrigue for the New Jersey Devils organization, or at least the past.
There have been some rumors connecting the New Jersey Devils to Nashville Predators’ superstar defenseman, PK Subban. Some recent comments by Subban himself suggest that Jersey’s Team might be on his mind.
This is all speculation and absolutely nothing is reported or official by any means. All that happened was that PK Subban went on ESPN’s First Take to talk about the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.
Show host Max Kellerman brought up the two-way game that the Raptors superstar Kawhi Leonard is known for playing and how that has gotten them to where they are. He then proceeded to bring up the New Jersey Devils.

He used how the Devils used to be such a great team back in the day as a comparable to how Leonard has done for the Raptors. It is a reasonable comparison because the Raptors are known for being good on offense and defense, just like the Devils were in the 90s and early 2000s.
Maybe it is just a smart comparable, but he so randomly brought up the New Jersey Devils in a conversation that had absolutely nothing to do with hockey. He could have brought up any other team that is good on both sides of the puck, including his modern day Nashville Predators! Nashville doesn’t have a true superstar forward but they are very deep and so strong on defense and in net, and they win lots of hockey games that way.
Even with all that in consideration, he still managed to bring up Jersey’s Team. It may be unlikely, but if the Devils acquired Subban via trade over the summer that would change the entire outlook of the team, especially from the back end.
Subban is on a loaded Nashville blue line that has four studs with the likes of Roman Josi, Matias Ekholm, and Ryan Ellis and he still managed to have 9 goals and 22 assists for 31 points in a year that had some injuries and only saw him play 63 games. It is a 40 point pace on that good of a blue line.
If he came to the New Jersey Devils he would be the unquestioned number one guy and would likely see even bigger production. He would be the quarterback of power play unit one, and he would lead all defenseman in ice time on most nights. It would probably be an awesome move for both Subban and the Devils. Maybe we’re looking way too into it, but it certainly is fun to think about.
