Offseason has gotten quieter since the major transactions in June and July for the New Jersey Devils, but the month of August brought us a great thing for all us fans over the age of 21: beer!

The New Jersey Devils partnered with Magic Hat, a brewery in Vermont. The team tweeted from their account a contest about winning a trip up there to help them make a Devils inspired beer. You can check out the tweet here.

While this is arguably one of the best fan interaction ideas the Devils have had in quite some time, it is a bit strange they did not go with a brewery in the state of New Jersey. There are plenty of very good beers brewed right here in the Garden State. We take a look at five breweries that could have easily made a beer for us Devils fans.

Kane Brewing Company (Ocean Township)

Kane brews a lot of different beers from regular pale ales up to extremely hoppy IPAs. People prefer all different kinds of beer so this brewery would be a very solid choice to partner up with in terms of variety.

Carton Brewing Company (Atlantic Highlands)

This brewery was recommended to me by a fellow writer. Their beer is typically only sold in the central jersey area. This would make it a good choice because it gives fans from north or south jersey something new to try as they may not know any of the beers from this brewery.

Magnify Brewing Company (Fairfield)

More from Pucks and Pitchforks

This one may be a little biased as this is one of two of my hometown breweries. The other being Cricket Hill, but I personally favor Magnify and think it is a better beer as well as being more known throughout the state. While there are only really two flagship beers at this brewery, they are delicious and also the Devils already have association to Fairfield having their partnership with Calandra’s Bakery, also in Fairfield.

New Jersey Beer Company (North Bergen)

When searching for breweries around the Garden State, this is obviously one of the top choices. It’s name definitely helps Google bring it up, but this northern establishment packs a punch. This would open up many options for Devils fans and could help a small business establish a following. Also, it’s close to public transit making it easier to get there safely.

Devils Creek Brewery (Collingswood)

Okay, this selection may be because of its name, but come on, that was way too easy. Devils is literally in the name. It would be the perfect match. The beer looks good despite some of the bad reputation that comes from Camden County. A lot of good variety between pale ales and stouts among others. If we can find a store or somehow get it out of Flyers country, we could give it a go.

There are literally 100 other breweries in the great state of New Jersey.  Feel free to comment about other breweries not mentioned here in the Garden State. They will all be better options than Magic Hat because New Jersey is better than Vermont and that is just facts.
