This article is based on hypothetical ideas that may or may not come to fruition depending on circumstances. With these topics in hand is left wing Taylor Hall’s situation as an upcoming unrestricted free agent. The other elephant in the room is “when will John Hynes get canned?” This is going to be a very succulent one since a lot of hockey media and fans alike want to get their thinking caps going.
John Hynes:
John Hynes as the coach of the New Jersey Devils has underperformed massively over the last two seasons. How was this coach ever extended? Ownership should be regretting that big time. With Ray Shero looking to talk to Taylor Hall’s agent Darren Ferris about the situation for to re-sign or get traded. Well here is what Hynes has done this season. Just 2 wins, 5 regulation losses, and 2 shootout losses.
If you watched Coach Hynes’ style of hockey last season and this season, his up-tempo, and physical structure doesn’t suite these players. Ray Shero went out acquiring talent, skill, and veteran players. Watching John Hynes style hockey is something that certainly lowers your IQ level when he throws the Travis Zajac line to the 2nd period, and sends Nico Hischier’s line to the 3rd.
Honestly,in a perfect world Ray Shero should send Kevin Rooney, and John Hayden to Binghamton. Those guys are your meat and potatoes players. Sitting Jesper Boqvist out and having Jesper Bratt out the last game isn’t fair. If you factor in sending both Rooney and Hayden you can bring up two more guys. One of those guys that really should be brought up is center, and left wing Brett Seney. Seney has 10 points in 9 games played for Binghamton thus far. He has a lot of speed, and is very crafty that would be a much better player than Miles Wood at this point. Seney would bring that versatility to a bottom 6 line that has more tenacity with offensive and defensive zone entries, and exits.

Another ideal call-up for the defensive side would be left-handed defenseman Colton White. White had a really solid camp with the Devils and the London, Ontario native proved last season he had 7 goals and 23 assists in 71 games played. This year, he has 2 assists in 9 games. Coach Mark Dennehey has done a good job developing and raising the compete level of guys like White who has scored 2 assists in 9 games, and he isn’t afraid of moving the puck and shooting it on net. However when Hynes has tuhe right pieces in place he decides to play his 4th line too freely as if he has no faith in his own top 2 lines.
Taylor Hall:
The Interesting yet the impossible might not always be realistic but it’s worth a shot at examining a possible trade destination and idea about a Taylor Hall destination.
With less than a week to come Ray Shero and Hall’s agent should get more answers from Mr. Ferris about whether Hall is leaving or not. Fans don’t like the hokey pokey of “is Hall going or staying”. Well that should come to an end sooner than later. With that being said lets pretend Taylor is getting traded. Ray Shero needs a few solid left handed defenders that can play ASAP, and some really nice draft picks.
Colorado sounds like a good destination with the fact that the Avalanche have a lot of core forwards that can make it easier for Taylor Hall to play for an emerging playoff bound team that needs help with Mikko Rantanen on injury reserve. Colorado has a few key defenders that Ray Shero can aim for in Samuel Girard who is astonishing with the puck and hold his own as a two-way defender with a $5 million cap hit starting in the next season. Also you have Bowen Byram in the WHL who is a very star studded big left handed defenseman. Byram is a big body, strong defenseman, very mobile, elite vision, and his puck handling is very solid.
But even if this trade doesn’t happen exactly this way you can see Ray Shero getting a big haul of an NHL top-line defender (preferably LHD), an elite prospect, and an early 2020 NHL pick of that criteria. If for some reason Taylor Hall destination oes stay it’s because he wants to succeed with Jack Hughes and not having to deal with Edmonton despite the overhaul last summer.
