3. 11/21/2013 @ Los Angeles Kings

It took a while for Schneider to get going in his first season with the Devils. He was playing really well in net, but Martin Brodeur seemed to be the only goalie winning. Then, the Devils visited the Los Angeles Kings in November. The Kings were a very soft spot for the Devils at this point. The wound of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals was as open as ever, and this team had become a full-fledged rival.

The Devils were severely outplayed in this game, with the Kings beating the Devils in shots 35-15. This was the first night the Devils were in the Staples Center since the night Steve Bernier got that dreaded five-minute major in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. This was a building full of bad memories, and a team that wasn’t quite over them.

Schneider had none of those memories. Although, in that same postseason he was sent home by that very same Kings team when they stunned the President’s Trophy winning Vancouver Canucks in the first round. Still, there’s nothing like losing the Stanley Cup Finals.

Schneider walked into the Staples Center, and he dominated. It was not his first dominant performance as a member of the Devils (he shut out the Rangers in his first month), but this was one that really felt bigger. Going to the Kings house, and holding them to one goal all the way into overtime.

Jaromir Jagr ended up scoring the game winner in the extra session, and Schneider got to erase some Kings overtime demons himself.
