Young Players In The NHL

The New Jersey Devils are going to eventually have to switch out some of these veteran players for younger players. Binghamton is currently ripe with players who need to show whether they are NHL ready or not. Michael McLeod was just in the NHL, and didn’t play half bad, but he was still send back to the AHL.

Beyond him, Joey Anderson and Brett Seney have been playing pretty well in the AHL. They are both second and third on the team in points.

Outside of that, it’s been quite the disappointment in Bingo. Mikhail Maltsev looked like he was close to NHL ready in the preseason, but he’s only scored five points in the minors this season. Fabian Zetterlund is a prospect we thought could really develop this season, but he’s having issues accumulating points himself. Marian Studnic did not take the step in the right direction we hoped he would.

Still, despite the issues we should expect to see some of these faces in the NHL later in the season. We should also expect to see players like Nathan Bastian, Colton White and Josh Jacobs to spend some time in the NHL.

Once the Devils make some moves at the trade deadline, we will expect to see these young players in the lineup.

The last player to look forward to is Nick Merkely. He was one of the pieces coming back in the Taylor Hall trade. The Devils need to see what they got in him sooner rather than later.
