The New Jersey Devils have been off for a few days but are expected to get a very important player in return to action against the Ottawa Senators.

The New Jersey Devils haven’t played in a while. They had a bye week followed by the All-Star break where Nico Hischier represented them. He played well in the Metropolitan Divison’s loss to the Atlantic Division but now it is time to get back to action. They are north of the border to take on the Ottawa Senators in a battle of struggling teams. Both teams will be looking to improve on how their first half went.

They will have a refreshing look to their lineup as Kyle Palmieri will suit up for the first time in a while. He has been out for a bit with injury but he is going to be back in this one. It will be cool to have Hischier, Palmieri, and Jack Hughes all healthy in the lineup for the Devils. It is also a nice matchup against the Senators who are about the same as the Devils in terms of being a good team. They will have their chances to get their touches so hopefully, they all show up to play.

Hischier should have gained some confidence following his performance in the All-Star game. He showed that when he has some good linemates he is able to show off his talent. He clearly belonged out there with some of the best players in the National Hockey League. That is why Kyle Palmieri could be a big boost for this team. They should be reunited on the top line.

For the first time this season, the Devils are going to be playing without Jesper Boqvist either on the ice or in the press box watching. He was sent down to the Binghamton Devils ahead of the bye week so he can keep playing and he has been awesome. The Devils have made the decision to keep him down there for a while to get more ice time and improve his play. With how bad the Devils are this year, it is probably for the best.

This is somewhat an important game for the Devils because it could set the tone for the entire second half of the season. They need plenty of guys to keep playing well along with some others to heavily improve their game. There could be jobs won and lost based on how this stretch of the season goes for certain guys. Beating the Senators would go a long way for their confidence.
