99. . D. St. Louis Blues. Alex Pietrangelo. 27. player

The New Jersey Devils need defenseman badly. They are thin at the position, and even the NHL players on the roster right now have huge question marks surrounding them. With an offensive mind in Lundy Ruff coming in, going for a very strong defensive presence might be a really wise decision. St. Louis Blues defenseman, Alex Pietrangelo, is certainly a very good player that is on an expiring contract that is currently playing in the playoffs.

He is currently their captain and a defending Stanley Cup Champion. If he came to the Devils, it would be a great addition of two-way defense and leadership. He would probably be the best defenseman that New Jersey had in a very long time. He would probably be exactly what we expected P. K. Subban to be, but it would also slot Subban into a more realistic role.

If Pietrangelo came to the Devils, he would absolutely be their number one defenseman. He would also be able to help the young guys who are already there and the ones that might be rookies in 2020-21. With the new system that they are likely to have, Pietrangelo would also really help break out the talented young forwards that the Devils have. Out of all of the free agents that are available this winter, this one might be the best one for New Jersey to pursue.
