3 New Jersey Devils Who Could Run For Office On Election Day
By Nick Villano
Travis Zajac
This one is obvious. Travis Zajac is one of two players on the Devils who are old enough to become U.S. President (but being Canadian born disqualifies him). He’s been the leader inside that New Jersey Devils locker room for most of his career. He started with the Devils in the 2006-07 season. He’s always had a calming influence in good times and bad.
That’s what would make Zajac a good politician. He knows what to say to make things better in bad times, and he knows what to do to make the good times roll. Every time the Devils had a bad game, he was the first man in front of the microphone protecting the young players from hard questions. He did what he could to put his team first.
He’s also a clutch player that knows exactly what the team needs. If he needs to be a penalty killer, he’ll do that. If he needs to score in overtime, leading to his team winning Jack Hughes, he will do that. He doesn’t mind getting a little dirty to get things done, and sometimes that is necessary in politics.
More than anything, Zajac is a person who can be trusted. Even his wife was a captain when she was playing hockey. The First Lady is a very important position, and these two would lead together.
