New Jersey Devils Fans Will Love New On-Ice Detail
The New Jersey Devils revealed a new detail on Saturday they are putting on the ice. It will make fans love this team even more.
New Jersey is a special place. If you don’t believe me, just ask someone who lives here. They will surely tell you. There’s a certain pride about being from New Jersey. Sure, people from Montana or Colorado or wherever else has pride about where they’re from, but it’s different here. Listening to so many people from New York or Philadelphia say you are lesser than puts a chip on one’s shoulder. And now, here we are.
Sports teams haven’t helped this narrative. Where do the Giants and Jets play? They call MetLife Stadium home. And where is the home stadium of the NEW YORK Jets and NEW YORK Giants? Why, that’s East Rutherford, New Jersey. Even the college teams don’t name New Jersey. While the main colleges in Michigan and West Virginia are, well, UM and WVU, in New Jersey the top colleges are Seton Hall and Rutgers. The MLS team calls itself the New York Red Bulls despite playing in Harrison. Goodness, even the PWF team calls themselves the Metropolitans.
There is one team that’s always made New Jersey a part of their fabric. Not the New York area. Not the Metropolitan area. The Devils are the New Jersey Devils. Always have been, and always will be.
With that comes an immense pride in the state we call home. From Patterson to Toms River to Jersey City to Newark, the Devils embrace every part of this great state. That’s why the newest detail the Devils revealed on Saturday means so much.
For some teams, this might be small. It’s just a different stencil used to paint the center line. For New Jersey residents, it’s a point of pride. Instead of embracing the area, you embrace where you actually exist. This is Jersey’s Team, and this team makes it known. And we love them for it.
As much as the team drives us crazy, they take our state very seriously. They take us fans seriously, and all the decisions might not work, but this one is a home run. Err, a breakaway goal?
