Sonny Milano

Listen, nobody really has any idea why this guy is still a free agent. It didn’t make a lot of sense when he wasn’t qualified by the Anaheim Ducks, and it makes even less sense nobody wants him for free. He had 14 goals and 34 points last season. He’s just 26 years old, and he can still contribute in the right situation. The Devils feel like the right situation.

Milano can come in and compete for one of the bottom six positions. Maybe there are rumors about Milano’s attitude that are causing people to stay away (there is no concrete evidence of this, but this just doesn’t make a lot of sense), but even if that were to be true, this is a very humbling experience. Coming into this locker room with so much skill and potential, it could bring out the best in Milano.

This player just might need a chance at this point. It’s gotta be stressful to go without an opportunity well into September. Now, he’s looking at the possibility of going overseas if this doesn’t work out. It’s a humbling experience for him like we said, but before he goes he deserves one more shot at the NHL.

Milano would be a great get at a PTO. Maybe he’s looking for a guaranteed contract and a PTO is not on his mind. If that’s the case, the Devils can pass, but it’s definitely worth bringing him in for the competition.
