There were a lot of memorable moments throughout the New Jersey Devils' 2024-25 season. However, there was one incident that stood out for many players. On April 15, the Devils were at TD Garden to take on the Boston Bruins. The matchup ended up going into overtime, and the Devils came out victorious 5-4 thanks to Brian Dumoulin. Interestingly, what made that game memorable for the players was what happened during warm-ups. Somebody's shot went haywire, and Erik Haula took a puck to the head as a result.
To make matters worse, Haula was already dealing with a facial injury, which is why he was seen wearing a bubble mask for a few games. He was determined to find out who did it. Now that we're amid the offseason, everybody looks back at it as a funny memory.
When asked about it during exit interviews, Haula said, "We're gonna keep that under wraps." A lot of his teammates shared their perspectives on the matter. It all started when Nathan Bastian stated that the incident was his favorite memory from the season.
"Probably when Haula got hit with a puck in the head during warm-ups and he spent the next day trying to figure out who did it...We have an idea [of who it was]."Nathan Bastian
Stefan Noesen echoed what Bastian said and deemed that to be his favorite memory from the season as well.
"I heard somebody mention it, but I'm gonna go with Haula and the puck to the head thing. It seems to be catching some wind, so I'm sticking with that."Stefan Noesen
Other Devils players chimed in
"I'm not saying anything on that one. It wasn't me, but I'm not saying anything else."Dawson Mercer
"We have a pretty good idea because we broke down the video. But I don't want to be the one to say. I was his number one suspect."Johnathan Kovacevic
We may never know who the real culprit was, but Johnathan Kovacevic said that he couldn't rule himself out as the guilty party. Regardless, it was still a funny story to hear from different Devils players.
