The New Jersey Devils have had wholesale changes to their front office this offseason. It started with the end of Tom Fitzgerald’s tenure. Prior to the season ending, Fitzgerald and the Devils parted ways. The Devils hired the top GM candidate, Sunny Mehta, and the moves continued from there.
Mehta announced changes to the front office, letting Dan MacKinnon and Chuck Fletcher go. This opened the door for Braden Birch to take the role as GM of the Utica Comets and AGM of the Devils. There are a few roles that haven’t been commented on, including Kate Madigan and Martin Brodeur, but it appears another front office member is moving on, but she’s getting a promotion.

The PWHL has hired former Team USA captain Meghan Duggan as the league's next general manager.
While her market hasn't been announced, it's believed Duggan could be in line to run PWHL Hamilton.https://t.co/urjaDAWCso #PWHL
We can confirm that Duggan's new job means she's going to be leaving the Devils, at least in her current capacity. She's been in the Devils player development department since 2021, taking over as Director of Player Development in 2022.
Her tenure has been inconsistent when it comes to development. There are a few decent examples of players who grew recently, but there are more examples of players who left talent on the ice without the coinciding output.
Meghan Duggan is leaving the New Jersey Devils for a new role in the PWHL
Duggan gets to take over as GM of one of the league's new teams. The PWHL has expanded to San Jose, Detroit, Las Vegas and Hamilton, Ontario. According to Ryan Kennedy, the Hamilton job might be the one that goes to Duggan.
She has previously held leadership roles with the PWHL, but she's been able to keep her job in New Jersey. In 2024, she accepted the role of special consultant to hockey operations for the women's league. She has also served on USA Hockey's board of directors.
Either way, this is a great opportunity for Duggan, who continues to grow the game of hockey after a successful career with Team USA. The worst part about this is the Devils won't be able to celebrate when she inevitably makes it into the Hall of Fame.
