New Jersey Devils prospect makes insane overtime save in Boston University win

Mikhail Yegorov has been amazing since he joined Boston University after a successful stint in the USHL. He showed why he should be the starter moving forward for one of the better teams in the NCAA with a save in overtime that was nearly impossible.

New Jersey Devils prospect Mikhail Yegorov has been incredible in his draft-plus-one year. He started the season playing for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. He was getting peppered with shots every night, and he was standing on his head as best he could, but it wasn’t good for his development. Yegorov was already committed to Boston University, showing he was prepared to join a top-tier institution, both in the classroom and on the ice. He would play under Devils legend Jay Pandolfo.

Around Christmas, he decided to start his college career early. Yegorov enrolled early to BU, and he was able to join the Terriers immediately. In nine starts going into Tuesday night’s contest, Yegorov already has done a lot. He helped BU beat the top team in the country, their rival Boston College, and win the prestigious Beanpot

In his first nine games for BU, Yegorov is 5-4 with a .930 save percentage, allowing fewer than two goals per game. They have the number-one recruiting class in the country coming in 2025, so they should be even better next year with players like Callum Hughes, Carter Amico, and Haoxi Wang joining the roster.

Yegorov has done everything in his power to will his team to wins on a nightly basis. He makes incredible saves with consistency, and he has long-term impacts for the Terriers already in place. He should be their top player when it comes to the top matchups.

So, when the Terriers took on the UConn Huskies on Tuesday night. The game went into overtime, and Yegorov made the most important save of the night. It was also the most impressive.

Devils fans are used to huge saves this season, as all of Jacob Markstrom, Jake Allen, and Nico Daws have made them this season. However, Yegorov's save might take the cake. To stop a puck that's moving in that fluttering way, and in overtime no less, is beyond impressive. It shows a goalie who truly understands what movements he should be making to save his team.

Boston ended up stopping two shots in the shootout, securing a win for his team. This was a big win against the ninth-ranked player in college.
