A Visit from NJ Devil: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas

The New Jersey Devils have given its fans some great presents this season, so as we head into the Christmas break in first place, we wanted to make our own version of a classic Christmas poem to celebrate our success.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through The Rock

Not a player was stirring, they had just beating the Rangers a lot;

The stockings were hung by the penalty box with care,

In hopes that NJ Devils soon would be there;

Tommy Fitzgerald was nestled all snug at their desk;

While visions of trade deadline acquisitions danced in their head;

And mamma Hughes is out training, with Jack and bro Luke,

Their success is for the long haul, this isn’t no fluke,

When out on the ice there arose such a clatter,

Fans sprang from their beds to see what was the matter.

Away to the glass fans flew like a flash,

Then they started banging, they wanted a crash.

You see Paul Cotter was fighting, smashing in a Rangers’ face,

As they pushed them further down the Metropolitan race.

When what to my wondering eyes did appear,

Another L for New York, it must feel familiar this year.

The Devils made up for a last season sweep,

By putting the Rangers hopes six feet deep.

But it’s more than rivalry games that matter,

The Devils are in first place, no matter the chatter.

"Now, Bratter! now, Dawson! now Stefan and Timo!

On, Pesce! on, Lazar! on, Jonas and Nico!

To the top of the circle! to right in the crease,

This offense is buzzing, thanks to trades that were a fleece.

Down the chimney NJ Devil came with a bound,

He is the best mascot in sports all around.

He was dressed all in his jersey, from his head to his toes,

And his clothes were all tarnished but you know how that goes;

NJ Devil had no toys, because there were Flyers fans in the crowd,

Word on the street is Gritty stole them, his respect is now shroud.

But there is no worry, as NJ Devil would return,

Unlike where he comes from, this Christmas would not burn!

You see, the Devils have so much to love this season,

Winning itself is not the only reason.

Hischier is the captain, and he’s back to his Selke self,

He might have competition from the Elf on the Shelf.

He’s also showcasing his defense to Hughes,

As both of those brothers, have stopped shots and a board battle they do not lose.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all New Jersey Devils fans from Pucks and Pitchforks!

The night is soon to nigh and the Devils are packing—

The road trip’s on the horizon, but first some light snacking.

As Prudential Center added pork roll, or maybe it’s Taylor Ham,

Either way, we’re glad they avoided the Spam.

We’ll be eating our dinner and listening to the Let’s Go Devils Podcast,

As we celebrate the holidays, and reminisce of Christmas past.

We appreciate you fans, and these articles are to make light,

“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
